MUSCULOSKELETAL PHYSIOTHERAPY
What is Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy?
A specialised area within physiotherapy that focuses on accurate assessment, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.
Musculoskeletal injuries are injuries to joints, muscles, bones and/or nerves. Common conditions treated are neck and back pain, and shoulder, hip, knee and ankle injuries.
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists often use manual therapy treatment techniques such as joint mobilisation or manipulation and massage to restore normal function, in conjunction with exercise programs.

Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists are qualified physiotherapists who have undergone further university based post-graduate studies in diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal injury management, prevention and treatment.
Once they attain this level they are recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) as an APA Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist.
